Trust

Richard Smart, a sixth generation Parker descendant, created the Parker Ranch Foundation Trust for one over-arching purpose: the betterment of the Waimea community he loved. In particular, his vision for the Trust specified that Parker Ranch income would be used to support and improve healthcare, education, and charitable giving.

Following his death in 1992, Parker Ranch, complete with Smart’s extensive art collection, was left in a trust to four Waimea beneficiaries: Parker School, Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy, Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s Richard Smart Fund, and Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital.

Today, the Trust continues to further the vision of Richard Smart, moving forward with confidence in a sustainable Parker Ranch, committed to its kuleana to support the betterment of the Waimea community through its beneficiaries.
