In 2014, Ulupono Initiative partnered with Parker Ranch to create the Paniolo Cattle Company, a joint venture company, aimed at developing new markets for local beef raised in Hawaii. The pasture-to-plate joint venture taps into a growing demand for high-quality, affordable, locally raised grass-beef.
Hand selected from historic ranch herds, cattle are raised on the majestic slopes of Mauna Kea to the mountains of Kohala and graze the natural grasses from mauka to makai that grow only with sun and rainfall. There are currently over 3,000 market cattle in our grass-fed herds that we grow and finish utilizing rotational grazing practices. These animals are thriving on the lush pastures with a steady diet of nutritious grasses and clovers that are expertly managed
